This is the third installment of my "I Collect Things" series which feature my cherished collections that adorn the walls & shelves of our rental. In addition to my coffee mugs & Troll collections, I also search thrift/antique store shelves for the beloved Pyrex kitchenware. It's something about the bold patterns and lively colors that draws me towards them.
So far my collection is minimal but I am always in search of new pieces to add. Over the Winter holidays I add quite a few pieces and found some awesome deals which include the 1qt Butterfly Gold casserole dish with lid, 1qt Green casserole dish with lid, large Verde casserole dish, & a yellow mixing bowl (not pictured)!
I was so excited when I was at home visiting for the holidays and found 3 of the pieces for under $10! I almost had a heart attack and ran across the store cradling them while trying to find Bryon...
The Snowflake Blue Cinderella bowls above were the first pieces in my collection! I will never forget when I found the nearly complete set... I was at a rummage sale with Bryon which we stopped at to buy and old iMac to convert into a cat house. I spotted them sitting amongst a table of rusty tools & random household items without a price on them. So I quietly picked them up and walked to the couple selling them and asked what the price was for the set.. The lady sat for a moment and then confidently said $3! When I heard the price I questioned her to make sure I heard her right and she reassuringly nodded... And this was the birth of my Pyrex addiction!
While I trying to photograph the pieces the kitties insisted on being near, in, or around the glassware which almost gave me a heart attack.. Thankfully my four-legged babies didn't paw the pieces off of the table!
Do any of you drool when you see a Gooseberry Pink Cinderella Mixing Bowl Set? They are on the top of my wishlist :)
Oh! and Some random bits about Pyrex:
Bryon finds it ironic that a clumsy person collects glass items.
My Grandma taunts me with her near perfect collection whenever I visit her.

My parents own the same green floral set, they finally got some new china but they still always use the classics! I love this! I use alot of these as containers for my herb garden!
ReplyDeleteI never thought about using them for an indoor herb garden! I bet they are beautiful :)
